Spring break is here!

Spring break has finally arrived, and I hope you all have a good rest. Only three more months of school left - can you believe it? The only homework I have for you is to have fun, and have some stories to tell when you get back. Enjoy the time off.

Mrs. Oger, Lily, Summer and I will probably be staying close to home, but it's Lily's second birthday, so we'll be having a party for her, and she's pretty excited about the whole thing. Other than that, I'll be reading, marking a few things, and getting ready for the rest of term three.

All the best, everyone!

Bonus points available for the spelling test tomorrow

Hi, 6 O!

Spread the word - if we get at least 18 perfect grades on the spelling test tomorrow, I will double the point value for our perfect score board. Let everyone know to work hard, and I'm sure you'll do your best!

You can also start to bring in your Scholastic forms, which are due on Monday.

Just over one week left until Spring Break! I know you're all looking forward to it.

See you all tomorrow!

P.S. Bonus prize for the first person who tells me the magic word tomorrow: Kalamazoo!

World Vision money due soon

It's getting close to the end of the term, so enjoy the brief homework reprieve while it lasts. Things will be busy next week, for sure! For tonight, just make sure to get your world vision money collected, as it will have to be in by Thursday at the absolute latest. I would prefer to collect your money on Wednesday, Feb 18. Also, Scholastic forms are due tomorrow, and the Volume package up to p 168.

Finally, be working on your Japan projects - just one week left on that.

Oh my, it's been too long

Sorry, 6 "O"! It's been a long time since I've written here. Life gets busy and it's hard to stay on top of things. Nothing for homework on February 17, but bonus points and a sticker for you if you come up to me tomorrow and tell me happy half birthday. Yes, I'm 29 1/2 as of tomorrow.

Projects upcoming, our Japan project is due next week Wednesday, February 25th. Make sure you are doing research, as I'll be checking your research progress on Friday, February 20. I'll be checking your rough drafts on Monday, February 23.

We're starting a new unit in Language Arts, and Student-led Conferences are on Thursday. Be sure to give those schedules to your parents. Take care, and I'll see you in the morning!

Pajama Day!

Sorry it's been so long since I have updated this blog - but I'm done writing report cards now, so things should get back to normal now.

Lots of fun tomorrow - we'll be watching Holes for the whole afternoon, and of course it's Pajama Day. Please bring something, even if it's just a teddy bear, so that we can get 100% participation.

The food bank box is getting full - good job everyone. Keep getting out there to collect food. If you've raided your parents' cupboards, start talking to neighbours, relatives, and people at church to see if you can really boost our totals. Remember - the goal isn't just to beat Mrs. B's class. The goal is to help people who do not have enough to eat.

See you soon!

Election Day tonight. Who will win?

Hey everyone. You'll been paying attention to what happens tonight in the United States. What happens there is important to us in Canada because they are our closest neighbours and our biggest trading partners. The results of the election will change the whole world, especially the United States and Canada.

So who do you think will win? Polls close in California at 8:00 tonight, so tune in after 8:00 to see what's happening. We will probably have a pretty good idea of who is president some time this evening, but it might be after your bedtime. Just get the information that you can and don't worry about the rest.

Homework for Tuesday night, you have a quiz on all the countries in North America Wednesday, as well as the provinces and capital cities of Canada. Study hard - it's an easy quiz if you do the work. Also, have your spelling corrections in by Wednesday, and your Holes 16-22 packages.

Planetarium on Wednesday

Hi everyone!

Hope you had a good weekend. We have a field trip coming up on Wednesday to the H.R. MacMillan Space Center, also known as the Planetarium. We should be doing some interesting experiments, and learning about the extreme environment of space. Everyone will need to bring a 2 litre pop bottle for a rocket experiment that we are going to be doing. If you have more than one, please bring more than one just in case someone forgets theirs.

Our fish are still alive! (phew!)

All of your notefacts are due on Tuesday. You have to have at least 50, but if you have more, that's great. Make sure you have a little bit of information on all five of the topics that we are covering - climate and conditions, location and physical features, exploration, life, and the environment.

Your falsely accused stories are going to be due this week as well. We'll have some class time to work on it, but you will probably have to do some work on your own. I'm impressed by what I've read so far, but remember this: your reader does not know what you know. You need to paint a picture in their mind of what is happening and who your characters are. Also, don't try to do too much with one short story. It's a short story, so it only needs one or two different scenes.

We'll be looking into the U.S. election this week, and doing some problem solving practice in Math. Hope you have a good one!
