Planetarium on Wednesday

Hi everyone!

Hope you had a good weekend. We have a field trip coming up on Wednesday to the H.R. MacMillan Space Center, also known as the Planetarium. We should be doing some interesting experiments, and learning about the extreme environment of space. Everyone will need to bring a 2 litre pop bottle for a rocket experiment that we are going to be doing. If you have more than one, please bring more than one just in case someone forgets theirs.

Our fish are still alive! (phew!)

All of your notefacts are due on Tuesday. You have to have at least 50, but if you have more, that's great. Make sure you have a little bit of information on all five of the topics that we are covering - climate and conditions, location and physical features, exploration, life, and the environment.

Your falsely accused stories are going to be due this week as well. We'll have some class time to work on it, but you will probably have to do some work on your own. I'm impressed by what I've read so far, but remember this: your reader does not know what you know. You need to paint a picture in their mind of what is happening and who your characters are. Also, don't try to do too much with one short story. It's a short story, so it only needs one or two different scenes.

We'll be looking into the U.S. election this week, and doing some problem solving practice in Math. Hope you have a good one!

Good work today!

You guys worked hard today, and you should be proud of how you worked during your math test. I'll try to have them marked soon so that you can know how you did.

Tomorrow we will have a spelling test. Here's a hint on how to study for spelling. Have someone read you the words and write out how to spell them. Then, put a star next to any that you get wrong. Write each of them out ten times, covering up the words as you go along so that you can't see what you've already written. Then, check your answers. Get someone to re-test you, and you'll probably have a better result. Any that you get wrong on the test tomorrow, you'll have to write out ten times for me so that I know that you learn it afterwards.

Hope you have a great night, and I'll see you on Friday!

Mapping Skills Test, Spelling Test

Hello, everyone

Please make sure you take some time to go over your materials for your mapping skills test on Friday. It won't be too difficult, as long as you know the basics. If you want to practice doing longitude and latitude or time zones, that would be a good use of time.

You also have a spelling test on Friday, and your integers package is due first thing after band. Look forward to seeing you then!

Elections Project Due Wednesday, No Waste Wednesday

Big day tomorrow! Your elections projects are due, and it's No Waste Wednesday. I'll be sending an e-mail to all of your parents about it. If they do not get the e-mail, it means that I do not have their e-mail correct and I'd like you to bring it to me as soon as possible.

So here are the guidelines for No Waste Wednesday! Bring only reusable containers and cutlery, or containers that are completely recyclable. I will be bringing a container so that we can compost anything that can be composted (examples, apple cores, banana peels, etc.) We might not get down to zero garbage the first time, but we'll work on it together. I'll be down at lunch to help you with everything.

Your elections projects are due Wednesday. Please have it ready to hand in, neatly typed, first thing in the morning.

After tomorrow, you have a nice long weekend! Enjoy!

Election Project coming up

Hello, 6 "O"

So the election is coming up, and there is an important event tonight - the English Language Debate. What this means is that the leaders of all the major parties will be discussing all of the issues. If you can, I'd like you to watch a little bit of it so that you can contribute to our discussion tomorrow. Some of it might go over your head - there's a lot of confusing stuff in politics - but do your best.

Tomorrow we will start researching your Extreme Environment, so be ready for that. Also, get some work done on your percentage package for Math, because it will be due Monday.

Don't forget to study for your spelling test! Pizza day is tomorrow, so make sure you bring your money if you've ordered pizza or hot dogs.

See you all tomorrow!

Mr. Oger
